Electronic Engineering with a specialism in Information Technology is concerned with the Design and Construction of reliable and efficient Computer-based Electronic Systems. It is especially relevant to systems where the Software is used to control interaction between a Computer-based System and the real world.

As Computer Technology is applied to an ever-widening range of Electronic Engineering Applications, it is becoming increasingly important to have engineers who understand both hardware and software, and their interaction, to build the next generation of Computer-based Electronic Systems.

The major areas of electronic engineering with computing include:

  • Telecommunications Programming
  • Database Design and Implementation
  • Operating System Maintenance
  • Implementing Embedded Systems
  • Electronic Control Systems
  • Fundamental and Applied Research
